An Easy Stencilled Look

An Easy Stencilled Look

Hi freinds...Michelle here with you today sharing a project using an older product in a new and unexpected way.  Have you ever looked at some of your older products and wondered how can you use them in an unexpected way....to give them new life?

For my project this week, I wanted to show that they are very versatile and you're not just "stuck" using them for 1 intended use and that's it.  So I grabbed one of my hot foil plates and let the inspiration hit me.  Follow along with me, as I show you how I did that!

I cut a piece of watercolour paper down to an A2 size (4.25x5.5") to start.  Next I grabbed my Diamond Dazzle Hot Foil Plate and 2 Lindy's Gang Starburst Sprays. I sprayed Sweet Violet Purple Starburst Spray on the top portion of the plate and then Galactic Teal Starburst Spray on the bottom of it.  Instead of picking up the plate, I left it on my work surface, so as not to disturb or move around the sprays and went direct with my paper to the plate instead.  I pressed my cardstock firmly to the plate and continued pressing for about 10 seconds, to ensure a nice transfer of colour to it.  That was then left to dry.  Once dry it was trimmed down 1/4" on all 4 sides.

For the sentiment I diecut a piece of mirror gold cardstock and black using the Hey Standalone Die and only did 2 of the 3 layers and adhered them together.  Now, for the sub-sentiment, you may be asking....self, what exactly does that mean, to cut or not to cut? lol  Well I absolutely loved how this background turned out, that I couldn't bear to cut it too much or even to cover it up, so the question was....to cut or not to cut lol.  I heat embossed the small sub-sentiment from the Crafty Friends Stamp Set using Hyacinth Blue Jade Embossing Powder from Lindy's Gang.

The background was added to my cardbase and the sentiments were adhered using liquid and foam adhesives.  A few Meraki Sparkle Magic Crystal Gems were added, to give it a little sparkle and that's it.

I love how this turned out!  Very simple and fairly quick ( I think the drying time of the background took the longest).  This hot foil plate was perfect for this and gives it the look of a stencil, but using other supplies.  This is also a simple and quick way to use your older supplies in a new way.  The Starburst sprays work beautifully for this too...and they are gorgeous to boot too!

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope that I have helped to inspire you in some small way.  I wish you all the most wonderful and crafty day and until next time,  Michelle :)
